What is a Cashner or Cashified Guitar?

Someone asked a question what is a cashier guitar and I did a little research checked around.  I’ve seen these advertised on Facebook Marketplace and even eBay and this is what I came up with:

Okay, as I understand it ~Cashner~ or ~Cashified~ guitars are simply cheap Chinese import guitars that this person or company imported and they just slap like a different pick guard or something like that on it just to make it a little prettier and maybe spend 20 bucks on it. Then they mark it up $120 or so.

Cashner Guitars or Cashified Guitars. All are still Chinese Imporrts

Cashner guitar, Cashified Guitar

Just one Chinese guitar producer is strumming up impressive numbers, exporting over 100,000 instruments every year.

In 2018, China produced 30 million units or three-quarters of the world’s guitars.

They never address the meat and potatoes issues that come with a imported guitar such as fret sprout,  intonation, action, or any of the things that really need to be looked at on a brand new guitar whether it’s imported from China or Korea or Mexico.

What cheap Chinese guitars need is a nut check and adjustment, fret leveling, crowning, and  fret ends checked and filed.  The action checked and adjusted and intonation checked and adjusted. Lastly, a good set of strings should be installed. A cheap pickguard is last on the list.

What what you really need is to take your new guitar to a local reputable guitar tech or luthier and have a full setup done on it and then after the setup you could have them put a pickguard on there for next to nothing while it’s on the bench there and you can get the pretty and you can get a good playing guitar as opposed to just an overpriced “pretty” guitar so I hope this helps someone.

Have you or do you know someone who has bought one of these guitars? I would love to hear from you!

Please let me know in the comments if there’s anything I’ve overlooked or if you have any argument to this rant.

One last thing....

You can also look at Reverb. Look at the sellers listings and check the ratings. If you got a highly rated seller that has the guitar you want contact them to make sure the action and everything’s been checked and that way you get a good guitar cheap can you buy it from somebody that’s reputable. This way you also get Reverb’s buyer protection and peace of mind.
